Game Changers: The Zynga.org Story With Guest Speaker Marcus Segal Tuesday, September 14, 6:30-9:30 PM Microsoft, 835 Market Street, Suite 700, San Francisco, CA
Social gaming site Zynga was founded by Full Circle Fund alumnus Mark Pincus in 2007. Now, it is one of the hottest rising companies in Silicon Valley. In 2009, Zynga.org launched, harnessing the power of Zynga's 360 million monthly users to make a significant impact worldwide. In five days over $1.5 million was raised for Haiti. By offering players the opportunity to purchase virtual social goods within games, Zynga has raised over $3 million to date to benefit earthquake victims, families without clean water, and children in Haiti through school lunch programs. You're invited to Full Circle Fund's September Inspiring Leaders Series, where we welcome Marcus Segal, an early Zynga executive, to discuss this innovative strategy and share insights on this compelling example of social media for social good. Join Full Circle Fund members and partners as we examine the innovative utilization of unique company assets to ignite millions and drive change in the world. In addition to Marcus' talk, there will be a chance to find out more about Full Circle Fund, see what our Circles are up to, mingle with our current members, and learn more about how to get involved. More About the Speaker Marcus Segal, COO of Game Operations, Zynga
Marcus oversees the day-to-day production and staffing of Zynga's games and directs the International, Production, QA, Community and Central Art departments. Prior to joining Zynga, Marcus served as the VP of Operations and acting CFO for Vindicia Inc., a technology company focused on providing advanced billing and risk solutions for digital merchants. Prior to Vindicia, he was VP of Operations at eMusic.com, seeing them through their acquisition by Universal Music Group in 2003. Before starting his career in technology, Marcus worked in TV and film, as the Executive in Charge of Production for The Documedia Group, producing the Emmy Award nominated series "Sworn to Secrecy" for The History Channel and as a pyrotechnician on one of the world's true film classics, "Beastmaster 3." Marcus is also proud to serve as a board member of The Climate Theater, a San Francisco-based theater company committed to bringing new works by local artists to the stage.
