The Challenge
Throughout our history and particularly in this tough world economy, people in poverty are trapped by lack of economic opportunity. But change is underway; instead of 70% of the world living on $2 per day, we know that 50% of the world population is rising into the middle class, earning $15-50 per day. Internationally and locally, these deserving people need the economic opportunities that will allow them to be more productive and contributing members of our community, and to have choices about the dreams and goals they pursue.
Our Goal
Full Circle Fund's Global Economic Opportunity Circle's goal is to support and strengthen channels for economic opportunity and empowerment, both locally in the Bay Area and internationally. We seek ideas, organizations, and leaders that are innovative, scaleable, and ready to benefit from the engaged philanthropic support of Full Circle Fund.
Our Approach
The Global Economic Opportunity Circle is looking for inspirational and effective leaders who want to make a better life for themselves and others. Our focus is on encouraging entrepreneurship, self-sufficiency, and asset-building, generally within the sectors of health, education, human rights, and environment. We are evenly dividing our focus between the Bay Area and the rest of the world. Ultimately, we hope that the ideas and organizations in which we invest can be scaled by a larger foundation or independent funder.
