Beyond 12

Oakland Unified School District, 2004:

  • Members helped the district attract $26 million in new funding support in one year
  • Members gathered 30,000+ responses to the district's first ever survey of students, parents, teachers and staff
  • Survey results provided 100+ principals with custom data analysis to improve school performance and student achievement
  • Academic achievement in Oakland improved faster than any other large urban district in CA, measured by academic performance index scores

New Teacher Center, 2006:

  • Since Full Circle Fund's involvement, 26,000 teachers have been supported and 1.2M student lives have been positively impacted
  • New Teacher Centers are now in 325 school districts and 50 states, and their revenue has grown 20% per year.
  • NTC's raised profile and marketing strategy attracted a next round of funding by Skoll Foundation and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Ella Baker Center, 2007:

  • The Oakland Green Jobs Corps launched in 2008 and was the model for California's Green Corps, which received $10 million in federal stimulus funds
  • Since its April 2010 debut, the Making Green Work toolkit was downloaded 100+ times throughout the USA, Canada, the UK and the Netherlands
  • New York's Osborne Association launched the Green Career Center in 2010, using Making Green Work as a guide. in 2011, Osborne will graduate more than 200 students from its Green Workforce Development Program.

La Cocina, 2009:

  • Since Full Circle Fund's engagement, La Cocina has 30 businesses in their program and 82 formal employment positions at those businesses.
  • 318 low income entrepreneurs have benefited from orientations and workshops and La Cocina has grown from an $800K organization to $2M.

Beyond 12, 2010:

  • Since Full Circle Fund's engagement, Beyond 12 quadrupled the number of students served to 1,800 in 2011
  • The organization expanded to LA and Boston in 2010. By 2014, they will reach New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, and New Orleans
  • Beyond 12 became one of the first three investments New Schools Venture Fund made for their $5m "Waiting For Superman" pledge
