Taking a step forward for youth at the Sex::Tech Conference

Posted by Lauren Girardin on January 23rd, 2008

SexTech conference logoFor the past two days, a diverse and sold-out crowd packed the Sex::Tech Conference, the first conference on technology, sexual health, and youth voices and youth culture. The conference was organized by Internet Sexuality Information Services (ISIS) and the National Sexuality Resource Center, partners on Full Circle Fund’s SexInfo grant project.

The conference has already grabbed the media’s attention - check out the interview of Deb Levine on KTVU (video may not play in Firefox), as well as the Oakland Tribune.

Full Circle Fund was honored to be a Sex::Tech Conference Gold Sponsor and host last night’s reception as part of our ongoing grant support of SexInfo. As part of the SexInfo grant project, our Technology Circle worked with ISIS to produce a PSA on SexInfo featuring Mistah F.A.B. The PSA ran broadly on TV stations like BET and MTV as well as radio. In just the three months following the PSA launch in 2007, SexInfo saw a 300 percent increase in the number of people using the service. The Full Circle Fund team also implemented key enhancements to the SexInfo text messaging system identified through usability studies conducted earlier in 2007.

Congratulations to our friends at SexInfo and ISIS, and special thanks to the following Full Circle Fund members and alumni for their efforts on the SexInfo project: team lead Marc Smolowitz and Ron Bouganim, Jon Cirome, Julia Hartz, Kevin Hartz, Mark Jacobstein, Erika Padilla-Morales, and Lael Sturm.
