Posted by Lauren Girardin on March 27th, 2008

Ella Baker Center logoOur Ella Baker Center project team hit an early milestone on March 12 with the launch of the Green Employers Council. The first Council meeting went well, with eight council members in attendance, including representatives from solar, green building and energy efficiency retrofit companies. Guests from Oakland Mayor Dellums‘ office, Rep. Barbara Lee’s office, PG&E, and community and labor groups made up the rest of the two dozen othes in attendance.

The San Francisco Chronicle covered this first council meeting in the article “The growth of green: Once on the fringes, the environmental movement has turned professional.”

During the event, Ella Baker Center’s Green-Collar Jobs Campaign policy director, Ian Kim, and manager, Aaron Lehmer, publicly gave their thanks to Full Circle Fund’s team for all their help so far launching the Green Employers Council and working on the Green Collar Jobs Campaign.

Kudos to Trina Martynowicz, who is leading the Green Employer Council working group, and the other Full Circle Fund members who have contributed time and energy to help make the launch of the Green Employer Council so successful. Special thanks to members Beth Trask, Darian Rodriguez Heyman, Georg Gerstenfeld, Johanna Johannesson, Marianne Manilov and Nadine Weil for their contributions to the working group.
