It was an intimate affair, ripe with the prospect of what could be done with enough passion and committment.
On March 15, Full Circle Fund co-hosted the event “Celebrating Great Humanitarians” at the National Legal Sanctuary for Community Advancement, to great success.
The esteemed featured speakers were Jakob von Uexküll, the founder of both World Future Council and The Right Livelihood Award, and his nephew, Ole von Uexküll, Executive Director of the Right Livelihood Award. The World Future Council is composed of 50 recognized leaders addressing critical world issues such as the environment, human rights and health by implementing and enforcing treaties and laws. The Right Livelihood Award, which is widely known as the “Alternative Nobel Prize,” recognizes people who have shown personal courage and social transformation.
The evening also included inspirational words from Josh Becker, founder of Full Circle Fund. Thanks to co-hosts Georgette Wong, former Full Circle Fund member and board member, and founder of Correlation Consulting, a strategic advisor to foundations and families inspired to leverage their assets to deepen the impact of their missions and values; and Banafsheh Akhlaghi, founder and president of the National Legal Sanctuary for Community Advancement, which is committed to fostering collaboration among partnering organizations invested in securing civil and human rights.
All in all, it was an encouraging and inspiring evening, highlighting the significant works of two truly great humanitarians.
