We’re thrilled to announce our Education Circle’s new grant projects! After several months of due diligence by our members - ranging from initial discussions around members’ personal passions to a final vote in early May - our Education Circle has selected:
Alt Comp Dialogue, a renewal of our project that aims to facilitate a California dialogue on alternative compensation options for educators and to work with at least one district to develop a pilot (this project is independent, that is, without a grantee organization).
Team Lead: Stephen Dodson
Active Team: Jeff Camp, Peter Kuperman, Parker Emmott, Jason Morimoto, Anna Van Degna, Temp Keller, Tracy Solomon and Ken Wun
Alternative Funding, a project that will explore opportunities for new models for school funding (this project is independent, that is, without a grantee organization).
Team Lead: Natasha Hoehn
Active Team: Sarah Heaslip, Mike Mowery, Chandra Alexander and Julia Chih
Niroga, a project to help fund and support a large, 500 student pilot of Niroga’s innovative, classroom-based yoga protocol for at-risk youth at an urban public high school in the East Bay. The project will also help this rapidly growing nonprofit develop an effective strategy for marketing and fundraising as it continues to scale its programs.
Team Lead: Fred Schnider
Active Team: Kiana Moradi, Rick Liebman, Aleesa Bolton and David Traub
None but Ourselves, a project using a new network model to help 50-100 at-risk youth in Oakland and Emeryville build strong adult relationships and connect with a network of community resources, essentially to build networks for success in life.
Team Lead: Steve Wright
Active Team: Nathan Fisher, Merril Vargo and Marc Spencer
We The Teachers, a project that will build online organizational portals for Bay Area educational nonprofits. These portals will connect We The Teachers’ members and to a larger group of teachers and content on ‘WeTheTeachers,’ a social network for teachers.
Team Leads: Corrina Chow and Linda Chong
Active Team: Jennifer Olsen, Gohar Galyan, Lisa Spinelli, Kim Jacobson and Robin Joy
Next Steps: Now the fun begins! One of the reasons many of our members are so enthusiastic about being part of Full Circle Fund is because they have an opportunity to work directly with the organizations we have selected to help make an impact, get to know Full Circle Fund members, and learn lots along the way.
