You can help fight climate change and the recession by bringing solar power to low-income families! Join Full Circle Fund’s Environment/Energy Circle grantee GRID Alternatives on September 12th for SOLARTHON 2009, their biggest one-day blowout solar event ever. Teams of individual fundraisers and corporate sponsors will be installing 16 solar electric systems in partnership with low-income homeowners in East Oakland.
Space is still available for a guaranteed spot on this installation event with over 200 community and industry volunteers. Together, volunteers learn how to install solar while bringing clear environmental and economic benefits to local families. These systems will generate over $270,000 worth of clean, renewable power for low-income families over their lifespans, while eliminating over 800 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
Additionally, GRID will be raising over $100,000 to help bring the benefits of solar to more low-income families throughout California, while helping spread the word that solar power is a practical, mainstream energy solution for all of our communities. If you have questions about Solarthon, or are interested in corporate sponsorship opportunities, email GRID Alternatives. Full Circle Fund salutes GRID, the members of the Environment/Energy Circle project team, and all the volunteers who are bringing renewable energy to communities in need.
