One of the goals President Obama laid out for his administration is modernizing information technology so that our government runs in the most secure, open, and efficient way possible. To this end, he created the official position of White House Chief Information Officer, and enlisted Vivek Kundra.
Vivek made a trip to Silicon Valley in mid-September to see innovation happening at a local level, share more about his vision, and announce the launch of apps.gov, a new White House cloud computing strategy. While Vivek was in town, Full Circle Fund convened a group of our members, grant partners, investors, corporate partners, entrepreneurs, and social innovators to meet Vivek and exchange ideas.
After the event, Vivek reflected, “The reception was an inspiration because the people offered me new ideas and fresh outlooks on technology and the many ways it can be used to improve our country and the world,” he said, and went on to cite the gathering as one of the most exciting stops on his trip.
Full Circle Fund was proud to be recognized by Vivek and his team as the ‘go-to’ organization in the Bay Area and to be able to leverage our network as a hub that brought together Craig Newmark of Craigslist, Lotus Founder Mitch Kapor and about 40 other leaders from Google, WordPress, Facebook, ISIS, The City of San Francisco, Benetech, Zero Divide, Salesforce Foundation and IBM for a face-to-face meeting.
The reception was held at IBM, thanks to Full Circle Fund friend Gwyneth Borden.
