Pamela HawleyWe are excited to announce that Pamela Hawley was recently awarded the Jefferson Award and featured on CBS Nightly News for her global philanthropic work.

Pamela is a Co-Chair of our Global Economic Opportunity Circle and by day is the Founder and CEO of UniversalGiving™. UniversalGiving is a non-profit marketplace where, with the click of a button, people can connect with vetted programs around the globe where they can volunteer or donate money. Prior to founding UniversalGiving, Pamela created VolunteerMatch, a website that matches individuals with volunteer opportunities worldwide.

“My motive is to create a world where giving and volunteering are a natural part of everyone’s everyday life,” Pamela explains in the interview. As Co-Chair of the Global Economic Opportunity Circle this year, Pamela has brought her vast experience in international on-the-ground work to the Circle. She has also been integral in leading the circle members through conversations about the vision and goals of the circle. After a yearlong process of research and discovery, the circle recently announced its three nonprofit partners.

The Jefferson Awards are presented to ordinary people who do extraordinary things. By honoring the recipients, it is the goal of the Jefferson Awards to inspire others to become involved in community and public service. Past recipients include Bill & Melinda Gates, Lance Armstrong, and Oprah Winfrey. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard founded the American Institute for Public Service to establish the Jefferson Award, a Nobel Prize for Public and Community Service. Congratulations, Pamela!
