Resource Round-up: week ending May 2

Posted by Lauren on May 2nd, 2008

A highlight of news articles, reports, videos and websites on philanthropy, grantmaking, and beyond that have caught the eye of Full Circle Fund’s staff and members this week. If these resources inspire you to get involved, check out our Community Calendar for upcoming events.

Eventbrite logoCongratulations to alumni members Julia and Kevin Hartz, whose company Eventbrite won the 2008 PayPal Star Developer Award for Most Innovative Application! Eventbrite is Full Circle Fund’s favorite online event registration system, and is a sponsor of our speaker events, our Member Retreat and our annual Forum.

Member Adam Hirschfelder points out this interesting new report, “Advancing Social Entrepreneurship: Recommendations for Policy Makers and Government Agencies” by Andrew Wolk for The Aspen Institute and Root Cause.

BoardSource’s May/June 2008 member newsletter includes an insightful article by Kay Sprinkel Grace, Transforming Philanthropy, LLC, about how board members can successfully engage donors who want to get more directly involved in the organizations they support. Sprinkel Grace talks about how “social entrepreneurship has become a defining aspect of 21st century philanthropy,” which won’t come surprise any Full Circle Fund members. The article is available only to BoardSource members; membership provides resources to help nonprofit management and boards become better leaders and build outstanding organizations (disclosure: I am a BoardSource member).
