New Teacher Center

Background

America's schools are now welcoming record numbers of new educators. Typically, the newest teachers are placed in the most difficult classes in the neediest schools. Not surprisingly, many of their educational careers will not survive this trial by fire. Nearly 50% of new teachers leave the profession because of poor preparation in the classroom. In low income communities, approximately 70 percent of teachers leave within 5 years.

Mission

The New Teacher Center (NTC) is a national resource focused on supporting the development of an inspired, dedicated and highly qualified teaching force. NTC works with school districts, universities, policy makers and educational leaders in more than 30 states. NTC has a demonstrable record of achievement, with long-term new teacher retention rates as high as 95 percent.

Full Circle Fund Role

NTC is regarded as a thought leader in the field of teacher professional development, and has sought Full Circle Fund assistance in developing their expansion strategy. In order to grow their organization to the next level, we will help NTC develop a new communications and marketing strategy to facilitate their continued growth as a premier provider of teacher-induction programs and school leadership training throughout the United States, and their role as an important voice in the public education policy debate.

"For the past decade, the New Teacher Center has worked to ensure that new teachers across the country have access to the highest quality of support they need as they enter the profession. The greatest joy in our partnership with Full Circle Fund is that members are as committed to and passionate about new teacher development as we are. It has been truly a phenomenal opportunity to work with Full Circle Fund's team as they have helped us advance our communication strategies to a new level."
