As the COVID-19 pandemic entered its second year, Full Circle Fund (FCF) continued to connect nonprofits with corporate partners and their employees to help nonprofit organizations emerge stronger from this time of uncertainty and better serve their communities. While volunteer Member project teams were not able to meet in person, they were able to work in remote video meetings to collaborate with three nonprofit Grant Partners.

Overview
Funded by GitHub, Medallia, and Delta Dental, FCF coordinated three project teams comprised of GitHub and Medallia employees, along with nonprofit organizations working to building healthy communities:
- Children Now focuses on building power for kids in public policymaking to transform the systems that serve kids and improve children’s well-being, especially for kids of color, children living in poverty, and youth in foster care.
- Fresh Approach works at the intersection of food security, nutrition education, and public health to create long-term change in local food systems by connecting California communities with healthy food from California farmers and expanding knowledge about food and nutrition.
- Verano Health works to improve the lives of underserved Americans on Medicaid with personalized, culturally-sensitive, and tech-enabled care.
This collaboration is part of FCF’s Accelerate Social Justice in a Post-COVID World initiative. The initiative includes three focus areas:
- Economic Security Cohort to support disrupted retail and service workers and minority-owned small businesses.
- Healthy Communities Cohort to help nonprofits working on solutions to entrenched challenges and the underlying systemic issues that are behind the disproportionately detrimental impact of COVID-19 on communities of color.
- Equitable Education Cohort to support nonprofits with digital transformation to build equitable education opportunities.
The Healthy Communities Cohort helped the nonprofit Grant Partner develop strategies, unlock growth opportunities, and scale current and new ways to ultimately fulfill their missions and serve more people.

Impact Survey
Upon completion of the capacity-building projects, volunteer Members completed a survey. While typical FCF volunteer project teams meet in person to work on nonprofit projects, the pandemic required teams to work remotely via video calls. This also provided opportunities to engage volunteers from the Bay Area and beyond.
