Amy Lesnick Steps Down After Six Successful Years

Amy Lesnick announced in March that she would be resigning her position as Full Circle Fund Executive Director/CEO after leading the organization for the last six years. Her final day was June 10, 2011.

Thanks to Amy's tenacity, creativity, and enthusiasm, Full Circle Fund has evolved to become one of the largest engaged philanthropy organizations in existence. During her tenure, the nonprofit grew from 25 members to nearly 200. Two significant achievements reached under Amy's leadership are the launching of the Environment Circle with Vice President Al Gore, and Global Economic Opportunity Circle with Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

"Full Circle Fund owes Amy a debt of gratitude for the tremendous personal and professional contributions she has made to this organization," says Board Member Sarah Wigglesworth, who is leading the Transition Committee, "The legacy and impact she has worked hard to create over the past six years will continue beyond her departure, and we wish her the very best on her next adventure."

Amy was a hands-on leader from day one, actively engaged as our Circles invested in and provided instrumental hands-on capacity-building support to a portfolio of amazing early-stage social entrepreneurs and organizations, including Imagine H2O, Beyond 12, SexInfo, Ella Baker Center, New Teacher Center, La Cocina, and TechSoup, to name just a few.

Her drive to keep Full Circle Fund at the forefront of tough issues emboldened the organization to invest in high-risk, transformational issues, and not shy away from convening cross-sector leaders for dialogue and action regarding controversial issues such as differentiated teacher compensation and local school funding.

Under Amy's leadership, Full Circle Fund continued to attract high-caliber members, who have since advanced to roles such as President Obama's Deputy Director of Public Engagement, FCC Director of National Broadband Strategy, Director of the Environment for the City and County of San Francisco, Founder of Community Technology Network, ED of Citizen Schools CA.

A multi-year recipient of the San Francisco Business Times "100 Most Influential Women In Business" award, and an inductee of their "Forever Influential Honor Roll," Amy was also a founding lecturer in the innovative UC Berkeley Haas School of Business course, "Economics of Philanthropy," modeled on Full Circle Fund.

"I am truly proud of all that we have achieved together," Amy reflected, "I also feel tremendous gratitude to each of you for joining me in making these dreams a reality. While I will be leaving my formal role, I look forward to remaining a part of the greater Full Circle Fund family. It has been an honor and my privilege to work side by side with all of you to make a difference in our world."

The Board Transition Committee and the Executive Search Committee are working diligently with our search firm to find the right successor for the position and look forward to sharing more information when it becomes available.
