Full Circle Fund’s Secretary of State?
Krista Van Tassel has been a Member with Full Circle Fund since 2010, and serves as Grant Director of our Global Economic Opportunity Circle. Learn about what makes this superstar Member so engaged in our work for three years (and going strong!).
Krista Van Tassel, Member since 2010
Vice President, Environmental Affairs at Wells Fargo
FCF: Krista, why are you a Full Circle Fund Member and what drew you to the organization?
KVT: I was first introduced to the organization through a co-worker. She was excited about the professional development opportunities that Full Circle Fund could offer. As someone working in the corporate responsibility space, I was intrigued.
As I learned more, I realized how much education Full Circle Fund could offer. From introducing me to new philanthropy models to making new connections in the local community, I was excited about the opportunities that I could find through membership. Three years later I remain a member because every grant cycle brings new professional challenges and the possibility of helping draft new community solutions.
FCF: Who is the one person you’re most interested in meeting?
KVT: I know I am not alone when I say Hillary Clinton at any point in her career, but especially now as she relaxes between her most recent post as Secretary of State and (hopefully) a successful run for the White House. I will admit that as a part-time volunteer for her first campaign, I cried when she made the decision to drop out of the race. I hope I can support her again.
FCF: What book is on your nightstand right now?
KVT: I just picked up Interpreter of Maladies, a book of short stories by Jhumpa Lahiri from my library branch.
FCF: What is the most meaningful aspect of being a Member?
KVT: Many membership organizations offer networking opportunities, but what draws me to Full Circle Fund and keep me engaged is the authentic connection points that they provide. Not only are you meeting successful professionals with shared values around community engagement, but you are able to learn from this powerful network in a way that goes far beyond a hand-shake. I have met some of my most valued colleagues and been introduced to incredible nonprofits through involvement with Full Circle Fund.
FCF: In three words, how would you describe Full Circle Fund?
KVT: Inspiring game-changing leadership
FCF: What inspired you to join your Circle?
KVT: While the Energy and Environment Circle first caught my interest, I was looking for an opportunity that would take me outside of my day job. Since almost all of the work that we focus on in the Global Economic Opportunity circle includes a sustainability lens, it was the perfect fit for me to explore my interest in economic development while still having some experience to offer my Full Circle Fund colleagues.
