Project Homeless Connect
Mission: Project Homeless Connect‘s (PHC) mission is to connect San Franciscans experiencing homelessness with the care they need to move forward. They excel in connecting the most vulnerable San Franciscans to vital resources throughout the city. At their one-stop shop events and in their office every day, they link participants to difficult-to-obtain services including medical, dental and vision care, and employment assistance. As of April 2016, close to 55,000 volunteers provided services to more than 85,000 homeless and low-income San Franciscans and PHC has been replicated in over 200 cities across the United States, as well as in Canada and Australia.
Approach: After 12 years of successfully scaling their program, PHC sought to expand their services beyond the four walls of their office in order to reach San Francisco’s homeless population where they were most vulnerable and in need of assistance: out on the streets. Full Circle Fund Economic Opportunity Members are partnering with PHC to launch CareVan, their first roaming service facility on four wheels.
Key activities have included:
Best Practice Research – conducting comprehensive research on van specs and custom outfitting needs.
Competitor Market Research – assessing the needs of and services provided by other nonprofit mobile facilities.
Community Outreach – raising awareness for PHC’s crowdfunding campaign through email marketing and sponsorship requests.
