Mission: Black Girls Code aims to increase the number of women of color in the digital space by empowering girls of color ages 7 to 17 to become innovators in STEM fields, leaders in their communities, and builders of their own futures through exposure to computer science and technology.
Approach: Black Girls Coach Approached Full Circle Fund in 2013 to help the organization scale. With only two full-time staff at the time (including Kimberly herself), the organization was mainly volunteer-run and had great opportunity to build more scale — not just nationwide, but globally. They were close to their tipping point of achieving mass scale, and needed expertise on expanding strategically while strengthening their messaging and brand to the rest of the world.
Impact: Full Circle Fund helped develop partnerships for the organization’s expansion, scale their chapter models, and refine BlackGirlsCode’s messaging and branding to meet demand for their innovative program around the U.S.Kimberly Bryant was just named one of CNN’s 10 Visionary Women for her leadership and innovative work with Black Girls Code!
Bryant was also named one of 11 “Champions of Change for Tech Inclusion” by the White House in 2013, and has been honored by The San Francisco Foundation at the 2014 Women Changing The World Luncheon.
