Mission: Leadership Public Schools (LPS) works to prepare traditionally underserved students to succeed in college and become leaders in their communities. LPS emphasizes developing replicable practices that can improve urban education across the nation.
Approach: To help, Full Circle Fund planned to assist LPS in developing a set of resources that make it easy and practical to share technology innovations. The project included crafting sample documents and legal forms, convening innovators, and developing “how-to” materials.
In order to reach their goals, LPS utilized Full Circle Fund members to coordinate and document meetings, facilitate dialogue between stakeholders, and establish best dissemination methodologies.
Members secured pro bono legal counsel to create the legal infrastructure and for-profit corporation, UrbanEDU, to take ExitTicket to the market.
Members provided project management and business development tools that enabled LPS to create the corporate structure necessary to apply for a $1.1 million federal Small Business Innovation and Research grant and meet with potential investors.
In March 2013, LPS announced the official launch of the ExitTicket interactive student response system to help scale this impact nationwide: www.exitticket.org.
