Steven Lurie is the founder of Team Builder Ventures, which helps founders build world-class teams. The fund invests in early-stage rounds of enterprise software and consumer Internet start-ups led by the top venture capital funds.
Previously, Steven was at Zynga for over 4 years and was a member of the company’s Executive Staff. Most recently, he was the head of the International group after leading Studio I (India), a game group in Bangalore. Steven was the head of Zynga’s Mobile group before moving to India.
Previously, Steven was CEO of Advice Company, one of the Web’s leading legal and insurance advice sites. Before then, Steven worked at several venture-backed start-ups in executive roles and in venture capital.
Start-up experience includes Ingenio, where Steven was part of the original management team in 1999. Incubated at Benchmark Capital, Ingenio pioneered the pay-per-call advertising model and built an ad network that was acquired by AT&T’s YellowPages.com in 2007. Holding a variety of management jobs in product, marketing, and operations, Steven helped take the start-up from pre-product to profitability. Steven holds two US patents and has seven pending patents from his leadership of Ingenio’s product team.
Prior to Ingenio, Steven held a variety of management roles at Microsoft from 1993-1999. Starting out as the first marketing manager in the newly formed Online Services group, he led a variety of marketing, product planning, business development and business planning teams and was twice awarded the highest rating for product management.
Steven organizes the annual Run for Teachers event in honor of his late older sister to benefit education in India (www.runforteachers.org).
Steven received his JD from Harvard Law School and BA from Stanford University.
