FULL CIRCLE FUND ANNOUNCES NEW CEO STEVE McCOY-THOMPSON
New Leader Brings Decades of Global Experience in Corporate Social Responsibility and Economic Empowerment
Full Circle Fund is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve McCoy-Thompson as Chief Executive Officer. A respected executive with more than 25 years experience elevating nonprofit organizations and businesses around the world, Mr. McCoy-Thompson is ideally suited to lead Full Circle Fund’s highly engaged philanthropy community of more than 200 professionals who are addressing social and environmental issues.
Mr. McCoy-Thompson has led organizations throughout the world for the past 25 years, specializing in corporate social responsibility, stakeholder engagement, and public-private partnerships that enable local economic development. Most recently, he served as Executive Director at Urban Solutions, a San Francisco-based nonprofit that strengthens underserved neighborhoods through the support of small, neighborhood-based businesses that provide services, goods and create local jobs. Mr. McCoy-Thompson has also served in senior positions with Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), Deloitte Consulting, and Bechtel Corporation. He succeeds former Full Circle Fund CEO Tim Smith, who stepped down from the role in July of this year.
“Steve is a compelling, inspirational, experienced leader, who will lead Full Circle Fund well into the future," said Full Circle Fund Board Member Sarah Wigglesworth. “He brings hands-on global experience to each of our Full Circle Fund focus areas, the vision to create and sustain powerful social change, and especially a strong desire to define and grow the next generation of engaged philanthropists throughout the region.”
Steve has hands-on experience throughout the world in a variety of areas, including renewable energy in South Asia; CSR in China; water and waste management in Latin America and the Caribbean; health management in Africa and the Middle East; and economic and stakeholder development from the Bay Area to many parts of the globe.
“Working with the Full Circle Fund team is truly a dream opportunity,” said McCoy-Thompson. “I look forward to working with our outstanding team, Members and Grant Partners to catalyze meaningful change and enable the next generation of engaged philanthropists.”
A native San Franciscan, McCoy-Thompson received a Master’s in business and contract law from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a BA from Duke University. He speaks English, Chinese and French and is the author of three books. He has worked in over 30 countries and has been based in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 20 years with his wife and two children.
