"The San Francisco Foundation is about making the Bay Area a better place for today's and future generations. This work cannot be done alone. In fact it requires multiple stakeholders working in tandem to create a systemic and lasting change. This is what our partnership with Full Circle allows us to do."
- Ruben D. Orduña, Vice President of Development and Donor Services
As two organizations committed to advancing social change through innovative philanthropy, The San Francisco Foundation (TSFF) and Full Circle Fund developed a partnership mid-year 2013. Since then, we have taken great strides in cultivating the next generation of philanthropists and collectively helping local organizations scale their work and impact.
Thanks to TSFF, Full Circle Fund has not only deepened our engagement with our community, we have provided our Grant Partners with amazing opportunities to connect to donors, have equipped Members with new ways of thinking about philanthropy and giving back, and have continued to innovative our offerings to next gen philanthropists and leaders who want to change the world.
EVENTS + DEEP ENGAGEMENT
Through hosting events together, we’ve successfully activated our supporters to get involved with engaged philanthropy at a grassroots level. Events like the 2013 Idea Lab, hosted by TSFF, where our Members and community leaders came together to help our 2013 Grant Partners with a specific issue area outside of our planned projects.
The Foundation has played a significant role at several other key Full Circle Fund events, lending their expertise and knowledge to our Members and larger community: Dr. Sandra R. Hernández, former CEO of TSFF, spoke at our Annual Retreat, Francesca Vietor was a panelist at our Kick-Off Event in January, and Ruben Orduña was a panelist at a dynamic event on social hybrid models, “A Portfolio For Good: New Models for Bridging the Gap Between Capital & Community,” hosted by Hanson Bridgett LLP in April 2014.
2014 GRANT PARTNER DEMO DAY
We are thrilled to have TSFF as this year’s sole Foundation Sponsor at our Grant Partner Demo Day on July 10, 2014 -- a role that highlights the Foundation’s commitment and mission to promote philanthropy and cultivate the next generation of highly engaged philanthropists.TSFF is moving the needle for organizations like our Grant Partners through providing a combination of grants, donor education, leadership, and convenings, while educating the broader community on creating great and lasting change.ent and mission to promote philanthropy and cultivate the next generation of highly engaged philanthropists.
THE RIPPLE BEGINS
Our partnership experienced its own “Full Circle Effect” with TSFF last year. Upon attending our 2013 Idea Jamathon, TSFF staff learned about our Grant Partner, Black Girls CODE, and engaged with them in greater depth at our Idea Lab that winter, where TSFF heard directly from Black Girl CODE Founder Kimberly Bryant. This introduction led to TSFF featuring Bryant as a keynote speaker at their annual Women Changing the World Luncheon, honoring her as a local leader and supporting her organization’s efforts as a funder.
BRIDGE THE GAP
TSFF continues to serve as a bridge between the nonprofit community and private sectors to address large-scale issues, such as healthcare, environmental change and affordable housing. We are grateful for our partnership with TSFF and look forward to enjoying an exciting Demo Day to celebrate the power of strategic partnerships, community, and collective impact!
"A healthy ecosystem depends upon interdependence and diversity. So just as nature has taught us, if we work together across silos and sectors, and engage voices from all backgrounds and walks of life, we will be able to collectively tackle the great existential issues of our time-be it climate change, water scarcity or access to healthier food in underserved communities." - Francesca Vietor, Program Director, Environment, Public Policy, & Civic Engagement
