John is a natural change agent with predispositions for creative solutions, thoughtful action and inspiring change. His background combines experiences from military, nonprofit, finance and technology spheres, where he developed leadership, entrepreneurship and mental models to address large-scale problems. While studying Economics, Philosophy and Psychology at UC Davis, John joined the US Marines, then witnessed the Great Recession in real time, as he studied Organization Development at University of San Francisco. After catalyzing major operating model changes at State Street, John moved to Silicon Valley to learn corporate finance at EMC then ServiceNow where he gravitated to key leadership roles in visioning, designing and implementing finance systems that significantly increased productivity and efficiency. After a year of extensive travel to learn about the world, John founded a company to create food security and tackle deeply ingrained market failures in the rice system, a fundamental crop which feeds half the world.
