One Fair Wage

One Fair Wage is a national organization seeking to lift millions of sub-minimum wage workers nationally out of poverty, engage these workers civically, and reduce sexual harassment in their workplaces by requiring all employers to pay the full minimum wage plus tips, and prohibiting tips from being counted towards workers’ basic wage compensation. Because of COVID, the service sector is decimated. We estimate 1-1.5M food delivery and restaurant workers out of 2M in CA have lost their jobs and many do not qualify for unemployment. On 3/13, OFW launched an emergency fund—with focus on the Bay Area—and anticipate they’ll have 1M workers sign up. The fund accomplishes many goals at once: send a check, to fill out the census, to food relief and other resources.
