Our History
Bridging Purpose and Possibility Since 2000
Full Circle Fund was founded in 2000 by a group of Bay Area changemakers, led by California State Senator Josh Becker, who believed that the region’s innovation, talent, and generosity could be harnessed for deeper social good. What began as a bold experiment - inviting professionals to contribute not just dollars but also time, skills, and leadership - quickly became a model for engaged philanthropy.
Over the years, Full Circle has grown into a powerful community of volunteer-philanthropists and social sector leaders working side by side. Through pro bono consulting projects, issue-focused Circles, and community-led events, we've activated thousands of local changemakers and partnered with hundreds of nonprofits tackling the Bay Area’s most pressing challenges—from education and housing to climate justice and economic equity.
In 2011, Ed100, a free education resource and advocacy tool, emerged from our Education Circle and now continues its work as a fiscal sponsee of Full Circle Fund.
Today, Full Circle Fund continues to evolve, staying rooted in the belief that when people come together across sectors, backgrounds, and lived experiences, they can co-create lasting impact and a more just and connected Bay Area.
